Face Lift Overview
Signs and symptoms of aging face and skin are inevitable but modern day techniques of skin tightening have made it possible to regain the youthful apperance.
Skin goes through many changes as we get older. Cells divide slower. The dermis, or lower layer of skin, gets thinner. It is comprised of several different types of tissue, including elastin and collagen. Elastin gives the skin its elasticity, and collagen keeps the skin taut. Eventually both of these proteins begin to break down, causing the skin to loosen. The loss of elasticity makes the skin and underlying tissue more susceptible to the effects of gravity.
A facelift can't completely erase the signs of age, and it can't fix all problems -- for example, sagging eyelids, eyebrows, or skin discoloration. To correct these problems, a patient would need to undergo other procedures (such as an eye lift, brow lift, or chemical peel). A dermatologist may recommend different procedures depending on a person's skin type and age.
For instance, there are laser surfacing treatments , such as Co2, IPL, LED that can change the glow, tighten the pores and improve the quality of the skin.
There are also treatments that use ultrasound energy or radiofrequency
energy to tighten the skin below the surface, such as Ultherapy (HIFU) .
Intense pulsed light (IPL), ultrasound, and laser treatments
Correction of pigmentation, fine lines, blotchiness, and redness are done with the right combination of skin care products and powerful light technology such as IPL and lasers. Another option is ultrasound, otherwise known as Ultherapy.
These treatments offer very subtle, it usually leaves you with no immediate signs of having the procedure or just a short period of redness. Compared with many other options(Derma pen and Fillers) , these are more cost effective treatments with less downtime.
When you combine these approaches with fillers and Botox, you can have the look of a natural, beautiful face without surgery.
Laser lift procedures utilize laser energy subdermally [placed beneath the skin] to create a controlled injury that melts fat and tightens skin. Laser lifts are ideal for the lower face and neck, and offer permanent results that instantly chisel and sculpt.
Laser lifts require very small incisions under the chin and behind the ears. A fine laser is threaded under the skin to remove fat and tighten the area. Laser lifts can work well in combination with some of the rejuvenation techniques previously mentioned in this article.
The laser used in the Laser Lift is the Co2, and Nd:YAG 1064nm wavelength laser with a side firing fiber optic laser from Cynosure, a worldwide leader in laser based devices. Nd:YAG 1064nm wavelength is absorbed by water and fat in the skin tissues causing micro bubbles at the fiber tip (cavitation effect) which produces bi-directional energy distribution and allows for more focused tissue targeting.
Number of professionals recognizes that not all patients want a traditional face lift involving anesthesia, incisions, scars, and recovery. That’s what makes Laser Lift so beneficial to patients. Laser Lift procedure costs are half of the cost of a full face lift, the recovery time is not even comparable, there are no sutures, no stitches, no scars, and no general anesthesia or IV sedation.
HIFU means High Intensity Focused Ultrasound – which essentially means the use of ultrasound to penetrate layers below the outer skin levels.
Many other treatments on the market work to reduce aging, but can only reach the very superficial layers of the skin. Whilst these can gain results, they require repetitive treatments and results wont last as long.
The HIFU however, uses technology which allows us to deliver energy to the deeper dermal tissue layers, stimulating the production of Collagen (what keeps us looking young) and tightening the SMAS layer (the layer manipulated during face-lift surgery)
Ultra skin tightening device reaches 5 mm deep under the skin , penetrating into the second layer of muscles underneath the facial muscles that lasers unable to penetrate. Going deep into the skin matters because thats where your skin makes new collagan .
20% of the result can be seen immediately after the treatment. 3-6 months later, the final result is visible.
This is a thermal fractional skin rejuvenation system employs a hot titanium tip which transfers direct heat to the upper dermis. The proprietary tip is constructed of biocompatible temperature resistant titanium alloy.
The tip consists of an array of tiny pyramids which are heated to a temperature of 400°C to trigger the generation of new skin cells, just a few sessions treatment will noticeably reduce fine lines, crow’s feet, and deep wrinkles on the forehead.
The apex of the pyramids transfers energy to skin by very brief controlled contact. Treatment is nearly painless. Analgesic creams are typically not required. Healing is fast and down time short.
This facelift without surgery was approved by the FDA in 2009 for the non-invasive Ultherapy brow lift. In 2012 the FDA cleared the procedure for the treatment of neck and submental skin laxity. Essentially what these approvals mean is that doctors can use this advanced ultrasound technology to address sagging skin and wrinkles all over the face, neck, and chest.
